Person of the Century Project Introduction

The Person of the Century Research Assignment is a long term research project that the entire sophomore class at Pembroke High School will participate in. Each student will choose a person from the time period of 1765-1865 and will research that person using primary and secondary sources. The goal of the project is to prove why your chosen person is the Person of the Century.

The paper will be three to five pages in length for the CP1, five to seven pages for the Honors. A time line of due dates will shortly follow. Students are expected to use multiple primary sources and at least one book (preferably a biography). Students MAY NOT use Wikipedia as a source. Wikipedia is a good starting place, but is not a viable academic source. Students will be required to hand in a Works Cited page, and cite their sources in the Modern Language Association format, which will be provided. Any plagiarism will result in a zero for the assignment, a phone call to a parent, and administrative action. Plagiarism is defined very specifically in the Pembroke High School Student Handbook on page 19. Issues of plagiarism will stay with students' permanent records.
